Washington State Metal Roof Beauty

by Christina

In Olympia, Washington sits a beautiful new community building right on the harbor called appropriately, The Harbor House.  Part of a new development on Percival Landing, general contractors Christensen Inc. were charged with the task of adding even more beauty to this already scenic setting.

The roof on the Harbor House came with some challenges.  A previous section of the roof was already clad with a particular metal finish which needed to be matched.  The building was situated right on the water and marine environmental demands needed to be considered.  The project required LEED credits, and most remarkably, the roof was designed with a distinctive concave slope on both the roof itself and the ridge.

We were able to match the existing metallic-finish color in marine-friendly aluminum.  The color was formulated with special pigments to give architects the SRI rating they needed, and combined with the other properties of our system, architects were successful in establishing the LEED credits demanded for the project.

The concave roof design was easily solvable.  We built the shingles in a slightly different manner than our standard shingles for flat surfaces.   The roof built up quickly and the result speaks for itself!

A big thanks to Christensen Inc general contractors for sending us their photos.  Beautiful work!  To learn more about Christensen Inc., click here:  http://www.christensenincgc.com/
