Roofing and Roller Coasters

by Christina

When the engineering is present, there’s no reason to be scared and every reason to be thrilled.

Give it a minute. There’s a parable here:

I just attended a family activity at a local amusement park to which I have not been for many years. Since my last visit, they have built several new rides, one of which is one of the scariest roller coasters I’ve ever seen in my life. It boasts the highest beyond vertical drop in the world and the crazy only continues from there.

Certain family dared my brother and me to go on it. It was a frequent topic of conversation throughout the day with a mixed salad of taunts, laughs and shudders of dread. But since pride was on the line, we finally, with some trepidation, got in the queue to meet our fate.

Before we knew it, we were sitting in the front row. And no trading rows because…rules. (Just our luck.) The seats, 3 rows of 4 abreast appeared precariously fastened to a platform. No traditional “car”. Nothing enclosed on the sides. Nothing except for our feet and the air in front of us. My heart skipped many beats when I discovered the only thing to hold us in was a relatively minuscule lap bar with no redundant systems or fasteners or security devices. The only thing keeping us from being far flung to certain doom in the next county would be a chair fastened to a platform and a wimpy looking lap bar. Wow.

I was starting to feel a minor wave of panic after the lap bar dropped as I realized I was now fully committed. My brother pointed to a 6 year old girl next to me and gave me that, “Seriously?” look. The young girl appeared as calm and happy as can be. Her aunt accompanying her assured me that this ride was fun. Even with these two cool cucumbers at my side, my brother’s jabs and my own bleak assessment of my surroundings left me with serious doubts.

So they take you through this short, dark, menacing tunnel where at the end (though you don’t feel it) the platform leaves the track and quickly ascends an elevator. You remain in darkness until the platform reaches the pinnacle and a garage door type feature opens to reveal bright daylight and…pretty much nothing below you. The platform then edges you out of the elevator and holds you at the top to ponder your existence. At this point, you’re hundreds of feet in the air and because the initial drop is beyond vertical, it truly looks as if there’s nothing but oblivion that awaits.

Finally, the track lets go and the experience is the ride of your life. When the platform returned, I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face and couldn’t run fast enough to get back in line to go again. I’ve been been obsessed with this ride ever since.

Why was it so impactful? One word: Engineering.

This ride didn’t leave me with a headache or nausea. It didn’t make me dizzy. The seat and fasteners didn’t poke me. There wasn’t an overhead security device to bruise my collarbones. I wasn’t bashed and bumped and squashed and stretched. The ride was smooth like butter and all the sensations it produced throughout the length of the track were thrilling and…pleasant. Each maneuver and transition was really well thought out. It delivered on “psyching me out” at the beginning yet gave me more than I ever anticipated on the duration of the ride. I felt secure in my seat and safe in every way. The minimal hold down gave me the unencumbered sense of flying that I don’t think anything else could.

In every way this was a carefully engineered system designed to safely, cleverly and comfortably thrill.

As a discerning rider, I’ve yet to meet its match.

I could have stayed with my nieces and nephews on the “intermediate” rides and would have had a great time, but I never would have had this mind blowing experience without venturing from the known.

So, what’s it going to take, roofers and architects?

Do you need a rookie installer or a fresh from college designer using our systems to make you feel less tentative about using and recommending our systems?

Remember this project?

This was installed by a first timer. He is a skilled installer and business man and whip smart in general, but look at the details! They’re perfect! This was his first time installing our systems, and, like me on the roller coaster, can’t stop smiling and is rather obsessed.

We’ve built all the engineering into our systems so you can enjoy planning and installing. And we mean enjoy! Our metal roofing and cladding systems are really fun to put up because they are intuitive and delightful to plan because they are versatile.

And they’re safe and permanent. Even in roller coaster like winds and driven rain and any other extreme weather! We are staffed by some of the top fine metal roofing and envelope cladding experts in the world. They hold design and engineering degrees from the top trade universities in Europe. These are the kinds of people you can rely on to ensure everything goes smoothly “on the track”. No other metal roofing systems manufacturer we know of offers this kind of assistance. We are there to guide you as much or as little as you require.

Trying something new can be scary. It’s scary because previous experiences might not always have been pleasant. And it takes effort, notwithstanding time and emotion, which, let’s face it, are commodities most of us don’t want to spend. Also, just because everyone else is consistently doing something else, that doesn’t mean it’s better. Think for yourself. When you have a well planned product with all the security devices built in, there’s no need to hesitate.

Come on. Give us a chance! We’ll give you a thrill!
